Dhamma Energy to build 87.5 MWp solar park in France

Dhamma Energy was awarded 36.5 MWp in the latest solar energy tender in France. Construction of the project, at a former NATO air base, will begin in 2019.

Madrid, August 10, 2018.- Solar PV developer and operator Dhamma Energy will build one of the largest solar plants in France, an 87.5 MWp project located in the north of the country.

Dhamma Energy was awarded a further 36.5 MWp in the last tender in France, in addition to the 51 MWp awarded to the company for the same project earlier this year.

Construction of the project will begin start in 2019 at the former NATO site of Laon-Athies, in the region of Hauts-de-France. Dhamma Energy will build and operate the solar plant.

“We are very pleased to be among the top winners in the two last solar tenders in France, which were very competitive,” said co-founder of Dhamma Energy Olivier Crambade.

Dhamma Energy started developing this project in 2010 in cooperation with the local communities. The project is located in the municipalities of Samoussy and Athies-sous-Laon.

Dhamma Energy was founded in 2007 by Philippe Esposito and Olivier Crambade. The Madrid-based company develops and operates PV projects in Europe, Latin America and Africa. Dhamma Energy is currently developing solar projects in 12 countries.

France is one of the main markets for Dhamma Energy, where 40 MWp of PV projects developed by the company are already operating.  Further projects, accounting for 100 MWp will be connected to the grid in 2018 and 2019.

In Mexico, Dhamma Energy has a pipeline of over 1 GWp of solar projects, from which 300 MWp already hold all the permits required to begin their construction.

In Spain, Dhamma Energy has 150 MWp of PV projects under development.

Prana Power acquires a 108 MWp solar park developed by Dhamma Energy and Sunpower in Mexico

Dhamma Energy developed this project within the framework of a partnership with Sunpower. The ready-to-build project, located in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, was sold to Prana Power on June 21, 2018. Madrid, July 19, 2018.- PV project developer Dhamma Energy announced today that Prana Power acquired on June 21 a 108 MWp solar project located in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, which was developed by Dhamma Energy. This ready-to-build project has been successfully developed by Dhamma Energy within the framework of a partnership with Sunpower since 2015. The project holds private PPAs. The project, which is now owned by the Mexican asset manager Prana Power, has been developed under the self-consumption scheme previous to the Energy Reform and holds assigned private PPAs. The project includes two solar installations in the same location. Projects under this scheme will be online before the end of next year and will benefit from advantages such as reduced transmission rates and the use of the public grid under the energy bank scheme. This scheme allows the use of electricity from the solar park at any time of the day within a period of 12 months. “Mexico is one of the most dynamic markets for corporate solar PPAs. We are very pleased to participate in one of the most advanced large-scale self-consumption solar projects currently in the country”, said cofounder of Dhamma Energy, Philippe Esposito. This 108 MWp solar park in Guanajuato is the second solar project under the self-consumption scheme for which Dhamma Energy has transferred the rights in the last few weeks in Mexico. Dhamma Energy also recently closed the sale of a 37 MWp solar project located in the state of San Luis Potosí. In Mexico Dhamma Energy has fully developed several projects under the self-consumption scheme and within the new framework of the Energy Reform. Currently, Dhamma Energy has a pipeline of over 1 GWp of solar projects in Mexico, of which over 300 MWp already hold all the permits required to begin construction. Dhamma Energy was founded in 2007 by Olivier Cambrade and Philippe Esposito. The Madrid-based company develops and operates PV projects in Europe, Latin America and Africa. Dhamma Energy is currently developing solar projects in 12 countries. France is one of the main markets for Dhamma Energy, where 40 MWp of PV projects developed by the company are already in operation and a further 60 MWp will be connected to the grid in 2019. In France, Dhamma Energy has also more than 150 MWp of PV projects in advanced development stage and in Spain Dhamma Energy has 150 MWp of PV projects under development. Construction of the project will start in Q3 2018 in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi. Dhamma Energy has a pipeline of solar projects of over 1 GW in Mexico.

Madrid, June 19, 2018.- PV project developer Dhamma Energy announced today that it has closed the sale of a 37 MW solar project ready to build located in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi to Balam Fund.

Dhamma Energy successfully developed this project under the self-consumption scheme. The construction of the solar plant is expected to begin in Q3 2018.

Dhamma Energy will remain involved in the project until it is connected to the grid. “We are very pleased to work with Balam Fund in our first partnership with them in the country. Dhamma Energy and Balam Fund are both strong players in the Mexican solar market,” said cofounder of Dhamma Energy Philippe Esposito.

Mexico has a favorable regulatory environment for the development of renewable energy. Dhamma Energy established a subsidiary in Mexico in 2013 and has currently more than 1 GW of PV projects under development, of which over 300 MW already hold all the permits required to start construction.

“We have already fully developed 7 solar projects in Mexico. We believe that there is a big potential for long term opportunities in the country. Mexico has implemented key reforms in the last years for the development of renewable energy,” said cofounder of Dhamma Energy Philippe Esposito.

This represents Balam´s fourth acquisition in Mexico. The asset manager currently controls a portfolio of solar and wind projects totalling over 500 MW. Besides the acquisition referred to herein, which is the first acquisition of a project by Balam from Dhamma Energy, the rest of Balam´s projects are under operation or in final construction phase, projecting to connect to the grid over the following months.

The Madrid-headquartered company Dhamma Energy develops and operates PV projects in Europe, Latin America and Africa.
